How can I make a donation to Potomac Conservancy?
Donations can be made through our website at potomac.org/donate, by mail, or over the phone. Checks should be made out to “Potomac Conservancy” and mailed to:

Are donations and contributions to Potomac Conservancy tax-deductible?
Yes. Potomac Conservancy is registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation. Your donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Our federal Employee Identification Number (EIN) is 52-1842501.
Will I receive a receipt?
Yes. After donating you should receive a letter in the mail within 1-2 weeks that can be used as proof of donation. If you donate online, you will also receive a confirmation of your donation via email immediately following your donation.
What happens when I make a gift in honor or in memoriam?
If you provide us with the honoree’s name and contact information (or that of his or her loved ones), we will send a letter acknowledging your gift. You will also receive a letter that serves as a tax receipt.
What does my donation to Potomac Conservancy go towards?
Unless otherwise designated, all donations go to support the full portfolio of Potomac Conservancy’s work, including land conservation, local clean water advocacy, and community volunteer programs.
Can I support or sponsor a particular program?
Yes. Restricted donations are honored to their full extent. To make a restricted contribution, please contact the Development Department at 301-608-1188 x207 or info@potomac.org.
Does making a donation automatically make me a member?
Yes. We consider all donors to be members.
Why should I become a monthly donor?
Pledging a monthly gift allows you to better manage your annual philanthropic giving and provides a predictable and reliable stream of funding for Potomac Conservancy. You choose the amount you wish to give monthly and can change or cancel your pledge at any time.
To become a monthly donor, go to potomac.org/donate and select the button that says "monthly" under "How often do you want to make this donation?"
Is Potomac Conservancy a member of Amazon Smile?
Yes. On your first visit to AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), you need to select a charitable organization to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. From then on, every eligible purchase you make at smile.amazon.com will result in a donation.
Can I limit the amount of mail I receive?
Yes. State your preference when making your gift or send an email, with your name, address, and mail preference, to info@potomac.org.
Please note that due to our mail schedule, it may take up to 6-8 weeks for this request to take effect.
Do you accept vehicle donations?
Yes. We do so through www.v-dac.com/org-search. Please type in Potomac Conservancy in the search bar and follow the provided instructions.
Why is Potomac Conservancy not approved by Charity Navigator?
Charity Navigator does not rate land trusts, therefore Potomac Conservancy does not meet the criteria to be evaluated by the organization. Potomac Conservancy is an accredited land trust through the Land Trust Alliance.
