Partner Event: Annual Potomac River Swim at Point Lookout

  • Point Lookout State Park 11175 Point Lookout Rd Scotland, MD, 20687 United States (map)

Watch swimmers take to the Potomac at this annual charity event that raises money for our Nation's River. The 7.5-mile swim starts at Hull Neck, Virginia, and ends at Point Lookout State Park in Maryland. Each swimmer is accompanied on the crossing by a volunteer kayaker. The race begins at 8 a.m. and will last about three hours. A celebratory picnic will be held after the swimmers return to shore.

Last year the event raised $15,000, which was donated to local organizations, including the Potomac River Association, Southern Maryland Sierra Club, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin, Potomac Conservancy, West Virginia Rivers Coalition, Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, Ridge Rescue, St. Mary's River Watershed Association, and Friends of the Shenandoah River.

Registration is currently full for swimmers.
