Join National Parks Conservation Association and Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens as they defend the Kenilworth Aquatic Garden from encroaching invasive plants while cleaning up trash and debris. This event will also recognize World Wetlands Day, learn the differences between native and non-native plants, and help preserve the health and native wildlife of our national parks.
This restoration project will begin at 9 a.m. with on-site registration opening 30 minutes prior to the start of the event. Please arrive no later than 8:45 a.m. The park has ample free parking and is Metro accessible from the orange line (Deanwood station).
The event will run rain or shine--please dress accordingly as the wetlands may be frozen. All volunteers are encouraged to wear long-sleeve shirts and jackets, long pants, and closed-toe shoes. Gloves and all equipment will be provided for you.
Granola bars and light snacks will be provided. Please bring a water bottle. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
To RSVP, please contact Ed Stierli at estierli@npca.org or 202.454.3339.
