Partner Event: Tree Care at Congressional Cemetery

  • Congressional Cemetery 1801 E Street Southeast Washington DC 20003 (map)

Casey Trees will be celebrating National Volunteer Week with a Tree Care Event at Congressional Cemetery. They will be removing invasive plants, and watering, weeding and mulching trees planted through the Community Tree Planting program.

Congressional Cemetery is a 35-acre historic burial ground located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Initially known as the Washington Parish Burial Ground, Congressional is considered the only cemetery of national memory founded prior to the American Civil War. Among the more than 55,000 burials at Congressional are some of the most important figures in our country’s history including one Vice-President, one Supreme Court Justice, six Cabinet Members, 19 Senators, 71 Representatives and the first Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, J. Edgar Hoover.
