Want to spend part of your summer down by the river, meeting new people, and educating your neighbors about the Potomac? Now's your chance! Become a River Center Guide at the River Center at Lock 8!
We ask our Guides to dedicate four hours a month to staff our River Center, located at a historic lockhouse in the C&O Canal National Historical Park in Cabin John, Maryland. As a Guide, you will spend two-hour shifts leading interactive activities with visitors that teach the ecology of the Potomac River and the conservation successes and challenges. You will also answer questions about the historic canal and lockhouse and educate visitors about Potomac Conservancy's conservation activities and programs.
