Since 2007, progress reports by the Potomac Conservancy have pointed to how well the Potomac River has measured up to the ideals set forth in the 1972 Clean Water Act.
Today, the health of the river shows marked improvement after more than a decade of concerted effort by environmental groups, government agencies, corporate commitments, and citizen stewards of the Potomac. The progress is evident, from the grade of “D” the Potomac River received on the report in 2011 to grades in the “B” range between 2016 and 2020.
Come and learn the new river health grade and hear more about key findings from the 2023 Potomac River Report Card!
