You Did It! Another Successful Canal Stewards Season Closes!

Our last Canal Stewards event of 2013 was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who came out to an event this year, you helped bag 7,300 pounds of trash, filled 267 bags with invasive plants, and hauled 22 tires to the curb! Potomac Conservancy and the Potomac River thank you! And a special thanks to our 2013 Canal Stewards sponsor, REI, and our long-time partners at the C&O Canal National Historical Park!

Helping to close out our Canal Stewards season, 17 volunteers joined us at the River Center at Lock 8 and helped remove 18 bags of invasive English Ivy off of trees along the C&O Canal. Many thanks to our river champions for bearing the cold weather and helping protect trees!
