The leaves are falling and so are the acorns!
This fall, we're bringing the community together to help partners put more trees in the ground by filling critically low acorn and seed supplies. The demand is so high, in fact, that some partners are forced to ship tree seeds from Tennessee and New Hampshire. That's nuts!
Potomac Conservancy is proud to step up by rebooting and expanding our local acorn collection initiative under a new name: Tomorrow's Trees.
New name. Same vision.
Potomac Conservancy's seed collection program has been active since 2001 when it was originally called Growing Native.
Why the new name? It's simple, really. We're bringing the community together to collect today's seeds for Tomorrow's Trees.
In the month of October, volunteers can join a public acorn collection event or collect seeds individually and drop them off at sites located throughout the DMV. Community seeds will be gifted to nurseries in Maryland and Virginia where they will be nurtured and transplanted for use in local restoration projects. Stay updated at www.Tomorrows-Trees.org.

Join our public seed collection event in beautiful and historic Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday, October 15. Whether you're a novice or an expert in tree identification, we'll provide you with everything you need to collect indigenous tree seeds on these hallowed grounds.

You can collect acorns in your own backyard and neighborhood. We're working with community partners and volunteer leaders to set up several drop-off sites. We will send out updates and post the locations on our new website at www.Tomorrows-Trees.org.
